: : Hi all,
: : Just curious. What date do you have your residents Christmas Party? Where I worked previously, we had it on Dec. 23rd, Where I'm at now It's on the 24th. Several of the staff, act. staff, cna's, nursing etc. all are complaining about that. They are in a rush to leave early that day.
: : Also, Do any of you work on Christmas day? Do you have anything special on Christmas day?
: : Thanks Ann H

: We have 3 floors. We have a family /resident party on the 14th. One in the morning (brunchy like)for one floor......... the other floor in the PM. The next floor has it on the 17th after dinner. Yes, I have to agree having the parties too close to Xmas is too stressfull!
We have our party on the 23 in the afternoon, we have a secret santa program( staff if they want to can pick a resident name and buy them a gift, we are blessed because our facality gives us money for Christmas presents, we buy for what names the staff does not pick, the money we don't have to spend on presents goes on big items, last year, a new t.v. for the second floor, and a fish tank, this year, a dvd, and new camera and a new glider for the outside,we are a 82 bed facality, with 12 beds assisted living, I will have the day before Christmas off and my boss will have the day after, neither of us will be in on Christmas day, that is the way my boss wants it, I should add that many, many of our residents will be going out for christmas, and we do have volunteers that will be in to read to those residents who will be staying.
I have been in activites for 10 years, this is the best place I have ever worked, I work four days a week from 9.30 to 4.30, we have another person who does nights and weekends, I do most of the programs for the alert and oriented, and the only paperwork I have to do is the initial assessment, my boss does the mds and all that stuff, I have the freedom to create new programs and implement them, I know how blessed I am to work in the facality.
