Since I am Dir. of both Social Services and Activities, I also am in charge of tranportation. I scheduled for everything which alleviates most of the problems. Our van is used by the Senior Center in our town also but our needs comes first. I try to accommodate as much as possible. Have done this for many years and works out well. We are a small 55 bed facility with attached hospital so we all have to be very flexible. Emergencies are different stories but usually our doctors make that decision which is good. Good luck.: My facility currently has a van driver who takes residents to and from appointments. When ever I want to plan an outing I always check the appt book for a clear day and always ask the adminstrator for that day. I will put in a note for no other appt be planned on that day if at all possible. Yet and still I always end up rescheduling or coming back early or leaving late because of unnessecary appts. How can I fix this or is it something I need to go to the DON about?
