: I have mostly high functioning residents. I do a word game with a white board. They or I pick a word. Today, we used the word Commonwealth. They shout out words using the letters in the word. We get about 75 words out of this one. I don't take two letter words but you would be surprised how smart your residents are. Just watch for repeats. Try to use words that have a few vowels in them. Other words I have used are Dictionary, Thanksgiving, etc. Bring a dictionary with you to check spellings if you think they have spelled it wrong. This is one idea for high functioning. The reminiscing idea is great and other questions you can ask is, "when you looked outside your window when you were a child, what did you see?" You get great responses. Ask about first home, their wedding, how much it cost to have their babies, and so much more. Good luck. Hope this helps
