: : : : : : Actually I am working on designing a software program for activity participation. I have submitted what I want in the program and I have a software developer working on putting it all together and hope to have it ready for November.
: : : : : : The program will hopefully have the following:
: : : : : : -it will allow you to use codes such as: A - active participation P - passive participation R - refused etc. Then at the end of the month it will total everything.
: : : : : : -you will be able to put in your days activites for attendance and it will go to the next month without having to input the activities that occur on a regular basis again
: : : : : : -I am hoping it will make graphs also. (ie) You could make a graph that shows what type of programs a certain resident is participating in such as mental games, social programs etc.
: : : : : : -it will also have one year of activity attendance on 1 page - which makes it nice for doing quarterlies - everything is on one page.
: : : : : : -it will make an activity calendar and will adjust the fonts to be as big as the square will allow
: : : : : : I am hoping to market this software but am a bit skeptical that I will not be able to sell enough to make my money back. It is quite expensive and the money will be coming out of my own pocket. I may also have a problem marketing it in the States as I live in Canada. Let me know what you all think of this? Is it something anyone would be interested in. I am just inquiring for my own information. Thanks to anyone who can give me some input.
: : : : : : Kim R

: : : : : This sounds wonderful. I think your marketing would depend on if you could interest the corporation. I'm catching up on my posts and noticed a lot of them reflect the overwhelming amount of paperwork. If this would help minimize time spent there I think it would be awesome

: : : : I would definetly be interested in that program. I know that there are some already out there as I used one when I was completing an internship in a skilled facility. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it was called. Keep me informed when you get this completed...I might be a customer!

: : : I would love a program for participation! I tried one from creative forecasting but it seemed more work than not. Or maybe I am just slow! Anyway, keep us posted! I would think there would be a lot of interest in a good program.

: : I'm doing the program from creative forecasting now, I agree, it is a lot of work and takes a lot of time to keep up. Would like to see something a little faster to do.

: Could someone please tell me what "passive" participation is? I hope it's not just counting warm bodies in the room whether they are asleep or just sitting there. We need to make sure that they are engaged in activities of assessed interest. I too would be interested in a software program that would make life easier.
: Aimee

Yes, Aimee, that is what passive participation is. (Although it can also be a person sitting quietly, watching an act. instead of actively participating.)
Can you honestly say that you engage every single one of your residents at all times? Yes, people do nod off during act., or there minds drift elsewhere. (Happens to me, too!) It is not necessarily a bad thing. I've had other residents try to wake them up, but I have a personal policy of NOT waking someone up, simply because it's time to do this or do that. Whatever we are doing can wait until later for that particular resident. This is also a good way to gage how a new act. is or isn't working. Obviously, if they are ALL asleep or not paying attention, then your program needs a change.
