Autumn starts in September so why not do something centered around that--looking at the leaves, serving cider and donuts or pumpkin pie, reading short stories or poems about autumn-etc. September is also "Honey" month. That's another topic you could use to feature at a social. Check the web for more info to help you bring the subject into the social. Remember to keep things simple and if serving food to keep diet restsrictions in mind so that there is something for everyone. Depending on functioning levels of your people you can have them help with the food and the decorations. Just keep in mind that everything needs to be adapted to their abilities.
