I understand that dialysis is a tiring procedure but at the same time I do have residents to ask for books to read and music to listen to. Do misunderstand, I do provide activities for these residents on their off days. That wasn't the question that I asked. I wanted to know if I should count the reading and music listening as an individual activity. I went through dialysis with my greatgrandmother who was 83 years old so I truly do understand what it is all about. Even she didn't want to sit there and stare into space!
Nicole, have you ever been to dialysis? The process is very tiring, not something that most dialysis recipients can do at leisure.
: I don't send my residents out with anything (I have at least 20 residents at any given time who are on dialysis) because it is a medical procedure that they are going through - some dialysis patients even sleep through the process and for much time afterwards. Your goal should be offering them activities on their "off days" when not in dialysis, to get the best response.
: Good luck!
