: : Here in Washington State, we are required to have 6 months worth of participation records on the chart, but we put them on a single form for each three month period and that we don't file until it is filled.

:
: Ya know, indulge me, BUT, I just have to vent about participation records. #1. We are not teachers in a school! #2. Let's get real, and BE HONEST, we all fudge these records and backdate ocassionaly. #3 Nursing can measure interventions with some credibility but measuring "attendance" is unrealistic. It does not reflect how a nursing home resident spends a typical day (in what I might remind the "STATE") the resident's HOME, for God sakes! #4. Attendance records are a tedious waste of my time, time that could be spent with my residents. #5 They are REDUNDANT! #6 A well written progress note can accurately convey participation patterns. #7. SHORT TERMERS????!!!!.............need I Say more....................Sorry, just letting off steam. It is my understanding that some states have done away with "attendence records" Bravo, to them. My state of CT. is still in the dark ages.

P.S. I will say more about "short termers" ! The amount of recreation paperwork spent on them is superfulous. We all know, that 85% of them want to and are capable of returning home to persue their former leisure persuits. If indeed they do become long termers then appropriate, realistic goals are informative and timely notes are necessary.
