Long ago we had budget to go out shopping for a personal gift for each person. When that was no longer possible, we gathered donations all year long which we matched to residents and wrapped specially for them. We also got smaller donations of things like motel cosmetics, candy samples and fruit and made "stockings with them in decorated bags donated by our local McDonalds. There were also stockings made up without foods for diabeticss and those on texture-altered diets.
