I've been there and it is soo frustrating. I try to have music going on while people are waiting so they don't leave or maybe a short video. (entertain while they are waiting) I put checkers out, we have magazines and music as an activity. What about volunteers? I have people come in and play music for us. We talked with John Deere and they gave a presentation on farm machinery. I had a guy bring in antiques from his store. How about the Mary Kay lady? Have you talked with a piano teacher to see if her kids would give a pre-recital to practice before the big event. I got a DJ to come in for free because I told him I would list the event in the paper and it would be good advertising for him. The more people you find to do activities the less you have on your shoulders.
