Hi, we in recreation do do the full manicures, cutting and all. I am a hairdresser so I feel comfortable doing this, but my staff are not. But they do do them. We have 2 volunteers that do them also, we tell them who is diabetic. It does raise concerns for sure. I just spoke to our DON a few days ago reguarding that issue. Our nursing staff appears not to cut and trim residents nails on their bath days, so they communicate as WE DO MANICURES I THINK MANICURES SHOULD BE SOAKING THE HANDS< TAKING OFF THE OLD POLISH< PAINTING THE NAILS AND A HAND MASSAGE, NOT PERSONAL CARE. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DO< NURSING MAY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU LIKE THEY DID TO US!
GOOD LUCK
