I too , use sensory boxes for allmy dementia residents as well as boxes for interventions for the restless wandering ones, i have also found mobiles with familiar pictures or balls and small colorful hoops on them for the most severe, bed bound resident very good in making eye contact just because they are so bold and bright. with my sensory boxes the families have been great to bring items in and for the ones with no family i have to be creative.another way we did for our farmers, was to tape record animal sounds they love this, brings back so many memories, hope this helps anyone who needs ideas i am always looking for new ones myself.. I will tell you in Ohio when we had mock survey with a private med. grp. the first thing they wanted to see in our dementia residents were the sensory, memory boxes and then the daily documentation of there uses.
