Thank you for the advice. I wish I could say it's been a real swell transition so far but the ex director was ok for the first few hours until the personal insults started flying. I was warned about this person being like that but my best source said the exdirector would put on the charm for me....well the charm wore off.... Saturday morning and I'm literaly praying for God to give me just a few more hours but the exdirector just went neurotic and froze up. For the life of me I can't figure out how anyone like that could ever hold a position like Activity Director! (well guess they didn't cause I took over) So after enduring several hours of low life head games and flat out insults I was glad it was over and hope to never see this person again unless they have stoped being evil or neurotic or whatever the trip was. So I see the Administrator today and I hear "it takes two". Great I look bad because the administrator chose to sick this psycho on me. So I bite my tongue and think "what a waste of time, I'dve served better without my assistants hearing from two directors for a week and notes that don't even cover the most important things. Well I've arrived! The politics couldn't get much cheesier and I'm still mister optomism: "these people won't be all sleeping in the afternoon when I've been here for a while, and, I'm gonna get a real activity program going that actualy pays attention to inviting and helping people to things according to thier interests and room visits that can do more than have someone come by and say hello...well thats the basics for now. Don't worry I'm not on "burnout street". I take it very serious cause it is but I still love to help people and I still whistle up and down the halls. I was a little surprised at how relieving it was to laugh with residents today despite how I was demoralized by the exdirector and despite how tough it is to take over this position while the boss says "it's easy". I spose it would be easy if you didn't care.
