We measured out two courses, one indoors and one out so walkers could choose twalk a mile or any part of it and keep track. Inside, 13 times around the auditorium was a mile, so each time around, they picked up a stick. Everyone walked at his/her own pace. When they were done, the staff on duty counted the sticks, did the math and charted their day's progress.
We gave rewards for the most miles and when the group total reached the distant to a certain city, we went out to lunch.
