: Hi Donna
: Nice to hear from you again.
: If the residents are folding towels for use by the facility, then it is both a work issue and a steril issue. However if it is something they do for therapy and you care plan to that effect, it is therapy. We had a special basket for each resident who participates. Or you could sent the folded laundry to the launder each time.

:Hi,Donna,
I'm from the Cleveland area, and it is stated somewhere in the regs that residents do have a right to get paid for the work that they do. But, I believe, it is only if it is a job that anybody else would be compensated for.
I, honestly, don't know of anyone who has done this.
If we have residents that want to help out, we treat them as resident volunteers, who are subject to background checks and all of the other regs that "regular" volunteers are.
Good luck!
